Full Cycle Maintenance Class Series

Ready to fine-tune your bike maintenance skills?

The fall sessions of our hands-on bike maintenance courses are starting ! You’ll build a solid foundation on how all the parts of a bike work and how to do your own repairs. The classes are taught by the expert mechanics at Full Cycle and include a personal copy of the Park Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair and a 25% discount on Park and Pedro’s tools for your personal collection.

-Ft. Collins: Eight Wednesdays starting February 1st

Class Includes:
-A personal copy of Park Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair. The Big Blue Book uses color photos and instructions to clearly explain the topics covered in our class and over 100 more various repairs and maintenance tasks including servicing bearing assemblies, wheels, braking and shifting systems, adjusting components, and more!
-A 25% discount on Park and Pedro’s tools for your personal collection – a great opportunity to get yourself a home repair stand or a tool set to keep your bikes up and running. Use of a bike stand and a fully-stocked workbench Upon class completion you receive a certificate you can hang over your home workbench for all to see!

Class Size: 8 students, 2 instructors. Requirements: Students should have a basic understanding of bikes and how they work. Students may bring their own bikes to work on to address specific problems, but you will also work on our house bikes.

Class Description:
This class is designed to give you a solid foundation on how and why bikes work.  With the completion of this class you will have a good understanding of bicycle maintenance, allowing you to maintain your own bike and perform road/trail side repairs so you can get home safely. Our classes will be held to eight people with two teachers for a hands on learning experience. During the classes you will work on all forms of bikes including road, mountain, and commuters. This will help you understand the various types of mechanical systems on bikes.

Topics include:
Introduction to tools and uses; Bike cleaning and orientation; Wheel removal; Removal and installation of cassette or freewheel; Hub adjustment; Wheel truing; Pedal removal, inspection, and installation; Crank set removal; Chain ring removal, inspection, and installation; Bottom bracket removal, inspection, and installation; Crank set installation; Chain wear and proper lubrication; Chain removal; Chain sizing and installation; Introduction to shifting systems; Cable inspection and removal; Cable and housing installation; Front derailleur; Rear derailleur hanger alignment; Rear derailleur adjustment; Rim Brakes: Cable inspection and removal; Brake pad removal and installation; Caliper adjustment; Disc Brakes: System inspection; Pad removal and installation; Rotor removal, cleaning, and installation; Caliper alignment; Headset overhaul; Headset adjustment; Stem installation; Seat post and saddle installation

Other Available Classes:

Specialized Classes: these classes are limited to 4 students and will focus on one specific area of the bike. They are technical classes based around topics such as suspension, wheels, brakes, drive trains. Each class will be 3 hours long and held at our Pearl Street location. These classes are great for the student who would like to build their own wheels, tune and rebuild their suspension forks or bleed their own disc brakes. 1 on 1 Session: These sessions are available to you at any time during the year during or after business hours. Take advantage of our mechanic’s knowledge and schedule private time with them to work on your bike with an experienced professional. You will have all their tools and knowledge at your fingertips for $60 per hour. Available at all three locations.
